JJ Redick was one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA for much of his career and it seems he is training his eight-year-old son Knox to follow in his footsteps.
A few weeks back, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart came to Brooklyn Basketball Academy to meet with the Redicks when Knox challenged Hart to a three-point contest and ended up beating him as well!
Knox jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the first spot, but Hart managed to tie things up in the second. The youngster then proceeded to hit three of his next four shots to take a 4-1 lead, and even though he missed his last two, he had built up enough of a cushion and won 4-2.
Hart really wasn’t trying all that hard and three-point shooting isn’t necessarily his forte either, as he has shot 35.0% from beyond the arc in his career, but it is still quite an impressive feat from Knox to beat him here. His father shot 41.5% from three during his 15-year career and who knows, maybe someday Knox will be just as good or even better than his father was in the NBA. Perhaps they could even end up as one of the best father-son duos in league history.
Josh Hart Has Proven To Be An Excellent Addition To The Knicks
While he lost out to Knox here, Hart has a lot to be happy about right now. He and the New York Knicks are up 3-1 on the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first-round series after a big win in Game 4 on Sunday. Hart played a key role in the result, too, finishing with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
Trading for him just before the deadline has proven to be an inspired decision from the Knicks. They have been the butt of jokes for all the terrible moves they have made over the years, but they got this one right and now look set to win just their second playoff series in over two decades.
