Journalist Taylor Rooks is a self-confessed Luka Doncic fan, and she has her reasons for picking the Dallas Mavericks superstar as one of her favorite players.
“I’m a big Luka fan,” she said in a sitdown with Interview. “The way he plays the game is so innovative. Obviously, the Mavs need to figure it out. Everything isn’t working.”
The broadcaster isn’t wrong by any means. Despite Doncic’s stellar season, the Mavericks finished 12th in the West and bowed out of the playoffs race. Adding Kyrie Irving did little to help them, as the team slumped 7-18 in their final stretch of games.
Irving and Doncic were the superstar duo who were destined to take Dallas the distance and were supposed to be the superteam the side was lacking all along. Rooks added that she was a huge fan of the superteam concept, and believed it was the right move for teams looking for a title.
“I’m big on super teams. I know people feel very weird about that. But I think that if you’re playing this game to win a ring, you do what you can win that ring.”
On the season front, Dallas is already putting their off-season plans into motion. They have maintained that re-signing Irving during the summer is their top priority, and they will also have to retool their roster to add more depth and firepower to assist their superstar duo.
