Dillon Brooks was at it again when the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Dallas Mavericks on Monday.

The controversial guard was handed yet another technical foul as he taunted Theo Pinson on the Mavs bench in the third quarter of the game.

It was his league-leading 18th technical of the season, and he is now suspended for a game. When Brooks was asked afterward regarding the taunt, he said he wanted to let Pinson know he is just a cheerleader now.

“I just wanted to let him know he was a cheerleader,” Brooks said. “Same class, I grew up watching him play, and he was a great player. Now he gets paid to cheerlead. I love it.”

There is actually some history between these two. Brooks and his Oregon Ducks had lost to Pinson’s Tar Heels in the Final Four in 2017. Pinson was a starter for North Carolina back then but is very much a bench player in the NBA now, having never started a game in his five-year career. He is also averaging just 6.6 MPG this season.

Pinson responded to Brooks’ remarks, hilariously stating that he owns real estate in Brooks’ head.

It was in reference to comments that Brooks had made after the Grizzlies beat the Golden State Warriors when he claimed that he holds a lot of real estate in San Francisco. While Brooks is talking an awful lot these days, he is backing up that talk with some good performances, on the defensive end.

Taylor Jenkins Believes Dillon Brooks Should Be An All-Defensive Player

Brooks was once again inefficient from the field against the Mavericks, as he finished with 10 points on 3-9 shooting. For the season, he is averaging 14.2 PPG on 39.1% shooting from the field, which is pretty bad but the real value he brings to this team is on the defensive end.

He has established himself as one of the best defensive guards in the league and is a big reason why they are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. His head coach Taylor Jenkins believes Brooks deserves to be an All-Defensive player this season and there is a very good chance he does become one. If you think Brooks is quite outspoken now, wait till he has some accolades, and it’ll probably get a whole lot worse.
