The Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies met for the third time in 10 days, as the Grizzlies pulled off a 16-point fourth-quarter comeback to beat Dallas 108-112.

Dillon Brooks initiated a jersey swap with Kyrie Irving after the game, which Irving seemingly accepted when he took off his jersey and gave it to Brooks. It ended up becoming awkward when Brooks tried giving Kyrie his jersey, but the All-Star just walked away without taking it.

Whether this was intentional or accidental is unclear on Irving’s part. He definitely isn’t a fan of Dillon Brooks. Not only did Brooks call him out last week when Kyrie was out hurt, but he also ended up stepping on Irving’s ankle tonight which stopped the star from building off a 20-point first half and going 0-8 in the fourth quarter.

Kyrie also has referred to Brooks as immature over his feud with Draymond Green. He was trash-talking Brooks in the first half when the Grizzlies star couldn’t guard Irving on most plays in the first quarter. Dillon got the last laugh, though, walking away with a tough win.

Dallas Mavericks Looking Like A Mess

It’s shocking that the Mavericks have a .500 record after the success they enjoyed last season. They employ a top-5 player in his prime but haven’t managed to be successful. This is likely going to be Dallas’ worst season since 2019-20, and the issues in roster building and coaching have taken their toll. Luka Doncic is currently out injured, and his status for their clash against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday is unclear.

Given Irving’s performance after getting stomped on, the Mavericks may not want to risk playing Kyrie in the next game. It’ll be challenging to beat the Warriors without Luka and Kyrie, so they’ll hope to have at least one of them available.

The Mavs’ defensive concerns keep dominating the team’s struggles, and Jason Kidd’s odd coaching decisions continue to stick out. Let’s see how far Luka and Kyrie as a duo can take them after their injuries clear up, which may just be next season, given the increased likelihood of Irving re-signing with the Mavs.
