Kyrie Irving is hoping to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a much-needed win over the Memphis Grizzlies tonight.

Whenever you’re playing the Grizzlies, you have to contend with Dillon Brooks being a pest on the court. Brooks seems to have already gotten under Irving’s skin, with Kyrie taunting Brooks’ defensive ability during the first quarter of their matchup.

Irving scored a quick 9 points in the first quarter and is currently the leading scorer on the Mavericks at halftime, with 20. The game is extremely closely matched as the Mavs play without Luka Doncic and the Grizzlies are without Ja Morant.

Dillon Brooks had called Irving and Doncic out when the team’s last met in the previous week. The Grizzlies won both games due to the unavailability of the Mavs stars, but Irving’s return will help his team compete at a higher level tonight. Dallas leads Memphis by 3 points at halftime.

Kyrie Irving Settling In For The Future?

Kyrie Irving’s free agency will be one of the biggest talking points of the summer. The closer we come to June, the more it seems like Irving will likely remain on the Mavs, provided the team offers him the contract he wants. From his play on the court when available, it’s clear Irving is still a superstar-level player that deserves one of the best contracts in the league.

Irving has averaged 28.4 points, 6.6 assists, and 5.2 rebounds so far with the Mavericks. With the Lakers allegedly not pursuing Irving in the summer, he can finally start settling down in Dallas and get ready for a stint on the team to hopefully bring championship success in the future.
