Dillon Brooks added to the list of things that make him unlikable to NBA fans when he pushed a cameraman that he ran into during a game and didn’t even help the gentleman get back to his feet.

Brooks’ actions led to a $35,000 fine being handed out by the league office to the player. After facing consequences, the player promptly apologized and claimed it wasn’t his intention.

It was clear to see in the video that Brooks was going to bump into the cameraman anyway, running full speed in that direction. However, everyone also clearly saw Brooks extend his left arm and push the cameraman so as to maintain his balance.

He didn’t even look back and apologize to the man, so his punishment is wholly justified. The cameraman was reportedly hurt in the encounter.

Dillon Brooks Emerging As The Grizzlies On-Court Leader

In the absence of their leader, Ja Morant, the Grizzlies are still acting like the brash and young squad that we’ve seen when Morant is on the court. Brooks has maintained the youthful intensity with which the Grizz play and has become a tone-setter on the court. Even if his offensive stats are subpar, his defensive value and hustle ability make him a valuable piece on this contending Grizzlies team.

Brooks is averaging 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists this season on 39.1% shooting from the field. These are rough numbers but Brooks keeps earning a big role on the team due to his defensive chops. We saw him succeed in guarding Stephen Curry in their latest win over rivals, Golden State Warriors.

With Morant’s return likely coming against the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow, it’ll be interesting to see how this team keeps its momentum going forward. Brooks will hope to light a fire under Morant to ensure the team finishes the season hot.
