Patrick Beverley was one of the best players still available in free agency after day one. The controversial point guard spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, but when the 2023-24 NBA season starts, he’ll be wearing a different uniform.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the veteran point guard is joining the Philadelphia 76ers in a one-year deal.

“Patrick Beverley has agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, his agent Kevin Bradbury with LIFT Sports Management told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.”

Beverley is a fierce competitor that doesn’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to win. The player often rubs rival players and fans the wrong way, and they make him pay for that.

Philadelphia would love this man if he brings that aggressiveness, hustle and competitiveness to the Sixers. They are ready to make a splash next season with Nick Nurse taking over as head coach.

After several years of trying to win, they are in a complex position. Doc Rivers is gone, James Harden is on the verge of being traded, and Joel Embiid will have to carry the whole load if the Beard ends up leaving the team.

This team has many questions to answer next season, and everybody is waiting to see what they do in the offseason.

Chicago Bulls Didn’t Want To Keep Beverley Beyond Last Season

Beverley claimed that the Chicago Bulls would have finished as a top-4 team in the East if he joined them earlier. However, that never happened and they ended up being eliminated by the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament.

The team had no plans to keep Beverley on the roster, and he’s found a good squad to continue his career. The Sixers will be a perennial candidate for as long as they have Embiid on the roster, but they need to take that next step to compete for a title.
