Zaire Wade could not have asked for a better coach than his decorated NBA star dad, Dwyane Wade on how to guard ball screens.

In a video clip, the former Miami Heat star is seen giving his own demonstration of how to guard ball screens, and safe to say the lesson is quite the masterclass.

“You stay off me, I’m dancing’ – need to initiate the defense, funnel into the screen, take away reject!” Wade is seen saying.

As far as Zaire’s basketball career goes, the shooting guard signed with the Cape Town Tigers of the Basketball Africa League. Prior to his stint, he was selected with the 10th pick in the 2021 NBA G League draft by the Salt Lake City Stars.

Now, as he hones his skills for the African League, he will have some added edge on the defense, courtesy of his father.

Dwyane Wade Explains Why He Retired

A look at the clip shows Wade, at 41 looks more than just someone who can rock back and relax. While his former teammate LeBron James is still gunning for a title at 38, Wade is happy to call it a day. And he explained the reason behind his retirement.

“That’s one of the hardest parts. If you physically can play, mentally you lose it quicker than even physical sometimes,” he told Shannon Sharpe during his appearance on Club Shay Shay.

“Like mentally, I was done. I had 2-3 more years at a certain level, I could have averaged about 12-15 a game off the bench. Mentally, because of the injuries, because of all of this, it beat me down. I still loved the game.”

And by the looks of it, he still does. But when an athlete of his stature knows when he’s done, then maybe retirement was the right move. And now, his son can reap the rewards by learning from the best.
