Following the match, Bev talked about his personal duel with Haliburton, explaining that it was a special one for him after he heard some words from Haliburton. Pat didn’t like the fact that a rookie was mentioning him, and just like Michael Jordan, he took it personally.

“I heard Haliburton did an interview a while ago and he mentioned my name. And for a first-year guy to mention my name, especially all the work I’ve done in this league defensively, I felt it was, I wouldn’t say disrespectful, but I remembered his words. It’s well known that Patrick Beverley likes to create some rivalries against other players, as happened with Russell Westbrook before they became teammates and the well-known feud with Chris Paul. More recently, he went at it with Damian Lillard and also said some words to Kyrie Irving.
