One of the most talked-about situations before the 2022-23 NBA season began was what happened with Boston Celtics Head Coach Ime Udoka. Coming off of leading the Celtics to the NBA Finals, it came out that Udoka had been involved with a staffer on the team in a romantic and sexual context. This led to him being suspended for one year by the team.

The details of exactly what happened never did come out, all fans got were people like Matt Barnes hinting that something intense had gone down. But the one reality of the situation was that it cost Udoka his relationship with his wife, Nia Long. Long is a celebrity in her own right, though, and there was never any doubt that she would be able to move on when the time was right. Now it seems that time is almost here.

“I have my eye on one person. I’m never telling.”

Appearing on Drew Barrymore’s show, Long had an honest conversation about her dating life, saying that she is interested in someone but also asking Barrymore about her experience with dating apps. The situation hasn’t moved forward too much, which makes sense considering how heartbreaking the whole Ime Udoka ordeal must have been for her. She has previously said she is quite single, and she was very angry with both Ime Udoka and the Celtics for the way everything went down.

Nia Long Had Called Out The Boston Celtics For How They Handled The Ime Udoka Situation

The world can be a cold place, scandals like this get a lot of play on social media and are discussed to death by a lot of people. This can be very difficult for the people involved, especially if there are children. And with the Celtics making Udoka’s suspension public, it affected Long, who called them out about it.

“I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public. It was devastating, and it still is,” she continued. “He still has moments where it’s not easy for him. If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK. It’s very disappointing.”

That the whole thing has been quite difficult for Nia Long cannot be doubted. As someone who was just a victim of her partner’s adultery, she deserves better than she’s had to deal with. And hopefully, things will work out for her romantically moving forward, and she can move on from this very messy situation.
