Nikola Jokic proved to the world that he is the best player in the world by winning consecutive MVP awards. However, Jokic is inching towards territory that even LeBron James and Michael Jordan couldn’t reach by possibly winning his 3rd consecutive MVP. Only Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and Larry Bird have done this before.

In the Denver Nuggets win over the Phoenix Suns, fans were stunned to see Jokic put up 41 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists en route to a thrilling win in overtime. Fans are convinced Jokic is coming after his third MVP and looking even scarier with a relatively healthy supporting cast and the No. 1 seed in the West.

Jokic is one of the greatest passers in NBA history, not just at his position. He is also an extremely intelligent player who can have fantastic positioning on the court. His triple-double looked effortless, and the Nuggets needed every bit of his contribution to winning this game.

Can Nikola Jokic Actually Take The Trophy Home?

Jokic has to fight a lot of strong contenders this season in one of the most challenging MVP races to predict. There are plenty of players in the mix, led by Jayson Tatum, at the moment. Kevin Durant is rising up the ranks, while Giannis Antetokounmpo is always a threat. The same goes for Luka Doncic, who just needs his team to have a better record.

If Jokic can continue putting up such incredible numbers and dominate statistics while keeping the Nuggets as the No. 1 seed in the West, he might make his case undeniable. Tatum is going to fight to the end for the trophy, but keeping Jokic out of the conversation will be impossible.
