The 2022 Christmas Day games haven’t disappointed today. The Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks had a hard-fought battle that the 76ers won. This was followed up by the Dallas Mavericks making a big comeback to demolish the Los Angeles Lakers. But the toughest battle of the night came after Mavs vs. Lakers.

The No. 1 and 2 seeds in the East locked horns as the Boston Celtics looked to prove why they’re the best in the league while facing the scary Milwaukee Bucks. Jayson Tatum dominated the game, scoring 42 points in a Celtics 139-118 win. Considering Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo are leaders in the MVP race, fans are hailing Tatum for his star performance.

Giannis tried his best but could score only 26 points while being held to just 40% efficiency by the Celtics’ defense. Despite their elite defensive prowess, Tatum was doing whatever he wanted against the Bucks. It was an awe-inspiring performance from the Celtics as they look to put a tough December behind them.

Are The Celtics Championship Favorites?

It is tough to definitively say that the Celtics are the best team in the NBA because of the party in the league this season. But from what we have seen so far, the Celtics are easily the most equipped to make a deep playoff run. They have depth, they have a dynamic duo, and a coach that has outlined the perfect offensive system for them.

If contenders around the league start making trades, the Celtics may be a little insecure in their position atop the league. The Bucks have won a championship before, so they can never be counted out in the postseason either. With Khris Middleton going down again, it may be the Celtics’ year to separate themselves from their closest rival.
