The rule changes over the years in the NBA have enabled guards to have more success than ever before and today we live in an era when point guards tend to dominate the league. We have so many great ones playing today that picking the very best among them can be a difficult task.

Almost everyone seems to have different preferences when it comes to a potential top 5 in that position, as there is so much diversity as well. Nick Young was the latest to try his hand and he had quite an interesting list.

Top 5 PG’s 1: Ja 2: Luka 3: Curry 4: Dame 5:SGA

“Top 5 PG’s 1: Ja 2: Luka 3: Curry 4: Dame 5:SGA”

Stephen Curry, Young’s former teammate, would probably be no. 1 for most, as he is in the midst of arguably his greatest season ever and it is a surprise to see him down at third. It is a bold call to have Ja Morant at the top but he is off to a great start this season as he builds on an impressive 2021-22 campaign. Luka Doncic and Damian Lillard deservedly make it in too as they have both been pretty good, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has had a breakout season, rounds up the top 5.

Just How Good Is Ja Morant?

This isn’t the first instance of Morant being hailed by those in NBA circles. Joel Embiid had some very high praise for him before they faced off earlier this month while Allen Iverson said that Ja is the real deal. He also recently set the record for most triple-doubles in Memphis Grizzlies franchise history and all of his exploits have left him in line to get his signature shoe at Nike.

Kevin Durant had once said that Morant will be the face of the league and the way it’s going, he might well end up being that. He has led the Grizzlies to a 16-9 record so far this season and they are just half a game behind the top-seeded Pelicans. Ja is doing all this despite both Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. missing a lot of time this season and he’ll very much be in the MVP conversation if he can keep up this level of play.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
