The Brooklyn Nets and the Portland Trail Blazers skirmish had their share of drama, with Jusuf Nurkic signaling to Kevin Durant that he was too small, leading fans rushing to the latter’s defense.
The Nets eventually edged out the Blazers, with Durant leading from the front with 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Focusing back on the Nurkic-Durant encounter, it all went down when the Brooklyn forward was being a pesky defender as Nurkic tried to wade his way through during the first quarter.
A foul was called and Nurkic signaled to Durant, calling him small, and as the clip went viral, fans were quick to defend Durant and roast the Blazers’ center.
“Nurkic didn’t back down from KD”
Nurkic ways 100 pounds more and couldn’t even nudge kd how he gonna call kd small
Kd held his own despite weighing way less
KD is stronger than what people think. Just because he’s skinny doesn’t mean he’s weak!
This too small stuff is getting overused. Guys like Nurkic using it now? Come on. Nurkic should be on the bench and at best is a cheerleader in the playoffs. He can’t call KD small. This is annoying.
How’s he to small when you a center and barley even moved him hit the weight room
Was struggling to move him lol
Imagine not being able to back down KD
KD held his ground
Nowadays anyone is calling small the other person the new trend
Where does Nurkic rank all time again?
Role player talking down to kd…
He didn’t move kd…. I think he’s the small one
Bro barely moves KD, he needa take a chill pill
While Nurkic may have had his say in calling Durant “too small,” the Blazers weren’t able to vault over the latter’s big night. There was ample support coming in for Durant, with Yuta Watanabe (20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists) and Ben Simmons (15 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists) playing their part in the win.
Kevin Durant Is Ready To Suit Up With Kyrie Irving Again
The Nurkic-Durant drama aside, the veteran was more tuned into resurrecting the Nets season and was keen to play alongside Kyrie Irving again.
The point guard is reportedly set to return when Brooklyn takes on the Memphis Grizzlies, and for Durant, it was about having a player of Irving’s caliber give the side the much-required boost.
“It’s exciting for everybody. I mean, we miss Ky, we miss his presence out there on the floor… Definitely will give us a much-needed spark.”
Irving comes off a suspension after promoting an antisemitic movie on Twitter, and for the Nets, it’s welcomed as they have tough matchups against Ja Morant’s Grizzlies and Joe Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers.
