Lonzo Ball is a very good young point guard, and he is obviously well-known for his flashy passing. Though Ball has not yet become an All-Star after getting drafted No. 2 in the 2017 NBA Draft, he is still a very good defender, 3PT shooter, and passer. There is no doubt Ball still has some untapped potential, and there’s a chance that he does, in fact, become a star in the future.
An issue that has plagued Lonzo Ball during his career is consistent injuries. Most recently, Lonzo Ball had to deal with an issue in his knee. He had meniscus surgery in January, and ultimately missed the second half of last season.
Lonzo Ball Might Miss The Start Of The Season
The Chicago Bulls relied a lot on Lonzo Ball’s defense and shooting last season, and it was clear that he was an integral part of the team’s success. They suffered without him during the second half of the 2021-22 season. It seems as though they might be without him for the start of this upcoming 2022-23 season as well.
A recent report by NBA Insiders Ramona Shelburne and Jamal Collier revealed that Lonzo Ball is expected to “miss training camp”, and is also “doubtful” for the beginning of the Chicago Bulls season.
Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is expected to miss training camp and is doubtful for the start of the regular season due to lingering pain and discomfort following meniscus surgery on his left knee in January, sources told ESPN on Friday.
While a source reiterated Ball’s knee is structurally sound after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on Jan. 28, he continued to experience pain while attempting basketball activities as he spent the summer rehabbing in Los Angeles.
Ball will arrive in Chicago next week to undergo further evaluation by the team, but he is unlikely to participate when the Bulls begin training camp at the end of this month, sources said.
There is no doubt that this is brutal news to hear for the Chicago Bulls. Lonzo Ball potentially missing even more time is tough for both him and the team, and hopefully, they find a way to get wins without his presence.
All that we can do right now is hope that Lonzo Ball has a speedy recovery and will get back on the court as soon as he’s completely healthy. The Chicago Bulls do have a lot of depth though, and we’ll see who ends up stepping up in his absence.
