Kevin Durant has shaken things up in the NBA world by requesting a trade from the Brooklyn Nets this summer. There has been a lot of speculation from fans and analysts about where Kevin Durant might end up ahead of next season.

While some people have suggested that Kevin Durant might end up staying with the Brooklyn Nets, many don’t believe that is the case. In fact, a recent report by NBA insider Marc Stein shared the words of an NBA executive who said that Kevin Durant is more likely to retire than to suit up for the Brooklyn Nets once again.

During summer league in Las Vegas, one of the most well-connected team executives I speak to regularly insisted to me that, based on what he was hearing, Kevin Durant was more apt to retire than play again for the Brooklyn Nets. This was in early July.

Recently, Kevin Durant himself has denied reports that he’s retiring, joking that “most people will believe unnamed sources” rather than what he says and stating that he does not plan on retiring “anytime soon”.

I know most people will believe unnamed sources over me but if it’s anyone out there that’ll listen, I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon. Shit is comical at this point.

Kevin Durant still has a lot of good years left in the league, and it makes no sense for him to retire. That course of action would have been unwise, and it’s good to see that Kevin Durant has no plans of leaving the game for good currently.

It remains to be seen where Kevin Durant ends up. There are a lot of teams that can give the Brooklyn Nets a compelling trade package in return for the superstar. However, we can rest assured that we will be seeing Kevin Durant suiting up and playing rather than retiring.
