Adrian Wojnarowski Says The Brooklyn Nets Are Still Looking To Trade Kevin Durant But No Deal Is Imminent

The NBA offseason has slowed down after some surprising and interesting moves in free agency. The draft is also over, and for now, there isn’t much happening in the ever-changing world of basketball. One big question mark that remains though, is what will happen with the Brooklyn Nets and their superstars.

Recent reports have suggested that Kyrie Irving wishes to give it one more year with the Nets and that it’s likely that Kevin Durant will also stay. While there were links to the Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors right after KD had asked for a trade, talks seemed to have slowed down to a crawl now.

Adrian Wojnarowski provided an update on the situation on ESPN on Monday, suggesting that while talks may not be fast-paced, the Nets are still looking for potential options to deal Durant to other teams.

“Well, as each day goes by, it does get likelier (that he stays). But the Nets are still trying to find a deal for Kevin Durant. I think if Kevin Durant came to Brooklyn and said, ‘I’ve changed my mind, I want to be here, I’m committed to stay’, of course they would change their minds. But if Kevin Durant’s not doing that, you’re still trying to trade him. You want players who want to be there.”

The trick to any trade involving KD is for Brooklyn to feel like they’re getting fair value in return, but with the Gobert deal that happened earlier in the summer, that number now seems to have gone up.

The team might just have to commit to keeping KD, and perhaps the move would be to try and persuade him to stay. The Miami Heat seem to be the team that is still the most interested in making a deal happen, but that hinges on whether they can find the picks to swing it. In any case, it doesn’t seem like anything will change on this front anytime soon.
