When the Golden State Warriors lost in the 2019 NBA Finals at the hands of the Toronto Raptors, it felt like the team’s days of dominating the league were behind them.

They lost Kevin Durant, who was one of the primary reasons why the Warriors team felt impossible to defeat. But on top of losing KD, the Dubs lost one-half of the Splash Brothers due to injuries. Yes, we are talking about none other than Klay Thompson.

The rise of the Warriors wouldn’t have been possible without Klay and his absence from the roster was evident from the fact that the team failed to do anything noteworthy during the two seasons he was injured.

But ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season, the Dub Nation was given the good news they had been waiting for. Klay Thompson returned to the roster and a new surge of excitement was injected into the fans.

Adding Klay to the mix of Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green proved lethal for the rest of the league. The Warriors have now qualified for the 2022 NBA Finals and they are just four wins away from winning another championship.

Making it to the NBA Finals in his first full season since 2019 was of course an emotional moment for Klay. In the postgame interview, Klay delivered an emotional speech that left fans searching for tissues.

"I'm just so happy to be back. I'm so thankful for this team."

What a journey for Klay ‼️

“I’m just so happy to be back. I’m so thankful for this team. These guys carried us to an incredible start. We coming back in there, I don’t want to get emotional but I can’t believe we’re back. This is crazy. I’m going to enjoy this tonight but, wow we still got four more to go Dub nation. I’m going to soak this in tonight though. I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe it.”

If you are a fan of the NBA then there is no way you aren’t happy for Klay’s comeback regardless of the team that you support.

It is great to see him back and if the Warriors win the 2022 title, it will be a fairytale ending to Thompson’s return to the roster after suffering from injuries over the last two years.
