The Utah Jazz has not managed to find proper success with their core pairing of Gobert and Mitchell despite excelling during the regular season. By all accounts, the situation is now quite precarious in Utah after another first-round exit at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. Gobert and Mitchell both don’t seem too happy, and despite the French big man calling out rumors now and then, a move away for one of the two could be considered more likely than not.

Mitchell and Gobert both have skill sets that every team in the league would covet. Gobert is a defensive anchor in the paint, a 3-time Defensive Player Of The Year, while Mitchell is a perennial All-Star and an explosive scorer. Two teams emerged as potential landing spots Mitchell would reportedly like, the Miami Heat and the Atlanta Hawks, and now there is a report that one of those teams is also interested in acquiring his services.

According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Miami Heat have been following Mitchell’s situation with the Jazz, and it’s hard to say that it wouldn’t be a great fit.

“The Miami Heat are being mentioned as another franchise that’s closely monitoring Mitchell’s status in Utah.”

Fischer also clarified in his report, though, that the Jazz remains committed to keeping Mitchell happy in Utah, and that Gobert might still be the likelier to be moved.

“Utah’s steadfast commitment to Mitchell has naturally led rival executives to paint Gobert as the more likely trade candidate should the Jazz explore breaking up the duo.”

One way or another, the idea of Mitchell teaming up with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is an incredible one. He has averaged over 25 points per game over the last three seasons and could be the piece the Heat need to go from contenders to joining the favorites. Whatever ends up happening, this offseason is sure to be quite tumultuous for Jazz fans and might just be extremely exciting for Heat fans.
