After a few years of hopping around the league, DeMarcus Cousins has found a new home in Denver.

Over 23 games with the team, he has proven to be a valuable backup big man.

On Thursday, the 31-year-old went viral for an exchange he had with Suns center  Bismack Biyombo. At some point during the game, the two were caught in a situation that could have turned ugly really fast. It wasn’t until Cousins was shot with an intense stare that he seemingly backed down.

Fans were impressed by Biyombo’s fearlessness. Despite almost having the ball pelted at his face, he hardly moved.

It’s comparable to this infamous moment between Matt Barnes and the late Kobe Bryant.

“[Purely intentional.] Oh yea, 100%, I just don’t know where it came from, like, it wasn’t like I was thinking about doing it, like, my arms fucking did it by themselves. I promise you,” said Barnes years later.

Fortunately, nothing more happened in either situation. It was just two guys getting caught up in the heat of a game.

Regarding Cousins and the Nuggets, their path forward is one of the NBA’s most mysterious. With Nikola Jokic and a ton of solid pieces around him, they have enough juice to compare against anyone in the West.

Still, injuries hold them back from reaching their true potential, and until they get some of their key guys back, they will always be seen as underdogs in the West.

For now, all they can do is keep fighting and hope for better days ahead. Cousins, who was acquired in February, has been key in helping the team stay within the West’s Top 6. Apparently, he has also been key to stirring up some intense feelings from the competition.
