Dorian Finney-Smith is happy with the new-look Dallas Mavericks, who keep winning games and shocking people around the league. The first part of the season wasn’t that promising for the Texans, but Jason Kidd has found the way to make this team competitive, ranking 5th in the Western Conference standings.

Ahead of the clash with the Brooklyn Nets, Finney-Smith showed his happiness with the team and how things are working for them since the trade deadline. The Mavs moved Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards, landing Spencer Dinwiddie in the process.

Things started getting even better for them after that moment, and Dorian seemingly took a jab at former teammate Porzingis while explaining the team’s recent success. Besides crediting Jason Kidd for his adjustments, he also said that there’s no jealousy between teammates.

Via Grant Afseth of Sports Illustrated:

“(Kidd) is making us talk a lot more, letting us figure it out, asking questions and letting guys speak up,” Finney-Smith said. “I feel like we’ve been holding each other accountable this year, and as you can see, I feel like on our team there’s no jealousy now.

“We’re playing great basketball, and even when things aren’t going together, we’re talking to each other and staying together.”

Ever since he landed in Dallas, rumors suggested Porzingis didn’t get along with Luka Doncic. They weren’t the best of friends and that also affected their relationship on the court. It was a matter of time before the Mavs moved the Latvian big man and they found a good player in return.

Dinwiddie hit his second game-winner with the Mavericks on Wednesday night, confirming that he’s the right player to back up Luka Doncic in his quest for the NBA championship. Finney-Smith believes these two factors led the Mavs to this sweet moment and seeing how well things are going, we have to believe him.
