• Andre Drummond has declared himself as the best rebounder in NBA history

• Drummond also claims he has a Hall of Fame resume

• The Bulls’ center has averaged 12.7 rebounds per game over his 11-year career

Andre Drummond had a fleeting but strong prime in the NBA. That prime was short-lived, as the three-point revolution made traditional centers like him obsolete. Regardless, Drummond still believes he’s the greatest rebounder of all time based on his advanced rebounding statistics.

“I used to play 40+ minutes, I was a star, All-Star, All-NBA, I’ve done it all. I’m a Hall of Fame candidate and the best rebounder ever. I’m the best ever… I’ve done great in my career and have the chance to be a Hall of Fame player.”

Drummond is currently 47th on the all-time rebounding charts with 9,963 boards in his NBA career. Only two active players have more rebounds than him, DeAndre Jordan (10,344) and LeBron James (10,667).

The Bulls’ center has averaged 12.7 rebounds per game over his 11-year career. He made two All-Star teams and one All-NBA Third Team during his prime on the Pistons. He led the league in rebounding for four out of five seasons from 2016 to 2020.

Is Andre Drummond In The Conversation?

No. It’s ludicrous to suggest Andre Drummond is the greatest rebounder of all time. There will be very few fans and analysts who’ll agree with what Drummond is saying, and that may apply to his Hall of Fame resume as well.

Drummond does have a fair chance at being considered the best overall rebounder of the last 10 years. The only active players in front of him on the all-time rebounding charts were drafted years before him, yet he’s in the mix.

He can’t even claim to be the best rebounder of the modern era, as prime Dwight Howard would easily be the pick in most fans’ eyes. Unfortunately for Drummond, most people will stick with names like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Tim Duncan while discussing the greatest rebounder of all time.
