The Golden State Warriors acquired Chris Paul for Jordan Poole. Paul is expected to help the Warriors in winning another NBA Championship.

Considering the core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green is still there, the Dubs have a great chance of winning it all again. However, many believe CP3 will need to come off the bench for the Warriors to succeed. Well, the 38-year-old seems to disagree with leading the second unit.

“Uhh, you coaching?” Paul responded to the reporter, wondering if he’ll come off the bench for the Warriors. “I don’t know what the situation is going to be yet. I think that will be for us to figure out once we get going.”

Chris Paul has played 1,214 regular season games and 149 playoff games in his career. He has started each and every game so far. CP3 was asked about his thoughts on potentially coming off the bench for the first time in his career.

“It’ll be a conversation for us when camp starts,” Paul added. “Me and Steve have talked or whatnot. You know, that ain’t something where you’d be like, ‘What up, man? You’re not starting.’ I think we’ll figure all that stuff out.”

Chris Paul is coming off the heels of averaging 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season. The Dubs will hope for Paul to average similar numbers from the bench because Curry will obviously start over him.

One thing that the Warriors could do is move Stephen Curry to shooting guard, Klay Thompson to small forward, and then make Chris Paul the starting point guard.

Stephen Curry Is Excited To Play With Chris Paul

Whether Chris Paul makes the starting five or not, it’s head coach Steve Kerr’s decision.

For now, what Paul can do is hope to build a great relationship with Curry. After all, the two stars have been rivals for years. The first signs have been good, as Curry is excited to share the court with the veteran point guard.

“I mean I’m super excited in terms of you know our history, competing against CP over the years,” Curry said. “He’s an unbelievable talent, one of the best point guards to ever play this game.

“It’s well understood every team that he’s been on, has been elevated, and obviously, we’ve won championships, we’re trying to get back to that level, and to add a guy like that knows how to run an offense, that is pretty versatile in terms of what he can do.”

If Paul fits well in the Warriors’ system, the sky is the limit for the organization. Well, we will find out about that when he plays for the Dubs in the 2023-24 season.
