Stephen Curry and Chris Paul were rivals who competed against each other for well over a decade but now they’re teammates for the 2023-24 season.

Paul is excited to get a chance to play with Curry and during an appearance on ESPN, Curry stated he is excited at the prospect of it as well.

“I mean I’m super excited in terms of you know our history, competing against CP over the years,” Curry said. “He’s an unbelievable talent, one of the best point guards to ever play this game. It’s well understood every team that he’s been on, has been elevated, and obviously, we’ve won championships, we’re trying to get back to that level, and to add a guy like that knows how to run an offense, that is pretty versatile in terms of what he can do.

“I know everybody gonna talk about our age and all that but it’s just about trying to put the pieces together with a lot of high IQ guys that know how to play basketball,” Curry added. “So, excited about the opportunity, it’s kind of surreal knowing all the things that we’ve been through but that’s how the league works and we’re going to make the most of this opportunity moving forward.”

Curry had stated previously as well that every team Paul has been on gets better. There have been quite a few question marks surrounding this fit, but the Golden State Warriors do seem to have a role in mind for Paul.

They were one of the teams interested in him when it was reported he could become a free agent and the fact that they went to the lengths of trading for him when it didn’t happen, makes you believe there is a grand plan in place.

Klay Thompson And Draymond Green Also Spoke About The Benefits Of Adding Chris Paul

Curry’s excitement about the addition of Paul is shared by Klay Thompson. Klay believes that CP3 will add a calming presence and a leadership component that the Warriors need.

He added that it will be a smooth transition for him, to play with a playmaker like Paul. CP3 is not the star he once was, but he can still run an offense and averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 8.9 APG, 1.5 SPG, and 0.4 BPG last season.

Draymond Green, meanwhile, believes Paul will unlock Jonathan Kuminga’s growth as a player. Paul does make everyone he plays with better and could certainly help the 20-year-old, who has struggled at times in his short career.
