Jordan Poole finally had his introductory press conference as a member of the Washington Wizards on Saturday night.
While Poole wasn’t keen on speaking about the incident with Draymond Green, he did talk about his relationship with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson when asked how they had helped his game.
“Well, those are the two greatest shooters of all time in my opinion personally,” Poole said. “And it’s just things that you learn in practice, in the game, on the road that you wouldn’t be able to learn not being in the mix and I’m thankful for that, grateful for that… Also built a relationship to where I can ask them, I can text Steph, I can text Klay. I can call them and just have a conversation. So, that doesn’t leave that doesn’t go anywhere.”
(starts at 8:16 mark):
Poole certainly learned a lot from the two of them and will forever cherish those moments. It had been reported though that Klay had some issues with Poole but it doesn’t appear as if it was too serious if Poole is comfortable having conversations with him even now. Warriors insider Jason Dumas also revealed that the biggest reason Poole was traded was his relationship with head coach Steve Kerr, who was fed up with his antics.
Stephen Curry Can’t Wait To See Jordan Poole Shine On The Wizards
Curry saw Poole grow up right up in front of his eyes, going from a struggling rookie to a key component in their title-winning team last year. He stated that he can’t wait to see Poole blossom on the Wizards and wished him the best of luck.
Steph had also previously stated that it was tough for him to see Poole go and it appears he really wanted things to work out. Ultimately though, a breakup was needed and Curry would have realized that too.
Poole, who averaged 20.4 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 4.5 APG, 0.8 SPG, and 0.3 BPG last season, now gets to assume a bigger role on the Wizards and it’ll be interesting to see just how well he does in it.
