The Golden State Warriors’ trade for Chris Paul in exchange for Jordan Poole has officially been finalized.
Stephen Curry, the leader of the Warriors, addressed the trade in a recent video on his Instagram. Stephen Curry started things off by appreciating his time with Jordan Poole over the last four years.
“I appreciate the four years brother,” Curry said. “You’re a champion. You grew up right in front of everybody’s face in terms of that first year was rough, a lot of injuries. Just trying to find your way, going to G-league and coming back and helping us finish 15-5 down the stretch of that second year. Us winning a championship in the third year. And, fighting till the end this past year.
“So, can’t wait to see you blossom big fella. Can’t wait to see you shine in your own situation. Just looking forward to competing and obviously we’re a fan of everything you’ve become. Good luck to you!”
During the final seconds of the video, Stephen Curry talked about playing with Chris Paul and being excited to be on the same side for a change.
“CP, can’t wait to ride with you brother,” Curry added. “It’ll be different with us on the same side. Let’s get it! Let’s get it!”

Stephen Curry and Chris Paul have one of the biggest rivalries over the last decade or so. Keeping that in mind, it will take a few games for fans to get used to the new duo.
Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG in the 2022-23 regular season. Alongside Curry, he can focus on being the primary facilitator for the team instead of trying to score.
Chris Paul Opened Up About His Relationship With Stephen Curry
The two veteran guards have locked horns against each other three times in the playoffs. Paul and the Clippers won the series vs. Curry and the Warriors 4-3 in the Western Conference first round in 2014. Steph won the other two series in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
The Warriors recorded a 4-3 win against the Rockets in the 2018 Western Conference Finals series. Finally, in the 2019 Western Conference Semifinals, where the Dubs took a 4-2 series win over the Rockets.
Despite being rivals, Paul shared that he has a good relationship with Curry. It’s certainly based more on engaging off the court.
“Me and Steph have known each other a long time,” Paul said. “My wife was at his wedding, I think him and his wife was at our wedding. But we’ve known each other for a very long time, so I’m excited to get a chance to play alongside him, Klay, Wig, Draymond, all them, man, they got an unbelievable organization, and that team is just, they’ve been playing together for a while, and they know what they’re doing.”
The Warriors finished the 2022-23 season as the sixth seed in the West with a 44-38 record. Can Paul help them in becoming a top 3 seed in the conference this season? Only time will tell.
