The entire NBA is looking forward to Victor Wembanyama’s hyped-up Summer League debut on Friday vs. the Charlotte Hornets. But prior to the debut, Wembanyama found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Popular singer Britney Spears was allegedly backhanded in the face by a member of Wembanyama’s security. Instead of apologizing for his security’s actions, Wembanyama tried to justify the altercation. He concluded his answer by claiming it was a nice dinner and he had fun that night.

“Something did happen when I was walking with some security of the team to a restaurant. There were a lot of people, so they were covering me. There was one person who was calling me, but my security told me don’t stop because it was going to make a crowd… That person grabbed me from behind, so I just know the security push her away. I don’t know how much force. I didn’t stop to look so I can enjoy the nice dinner. It was a fun night.”

Upon listening to the 2023 No. 1 overall pick’s answer, many fans were furious, and they took out their anger on Twitter.

A fan wants Victor to be canceled after not even apologizing for his security team’s actions.

he didn’t even apologize? CANCELED

A fan wants Wembanyama to respect Spears.

He better put some respect on Britney Spears name!

Another urged for Spears to sue Wembanyama and his security.

She wasn’t pushed away, she was slapped in her face!
I hope she sues them all.

A fan tweeted that the 19-year-old should publically apologize to Spears.

Canceled. Dude you are your security team. Doesn’t matter if that’s Britney or any other female – do a public apology and try to mean it. What a joke.

Another fan called out the Spurs star for laughing at the situation.

Whether it was intentional or not, it’s no way to treat a woman. Instead of trying to diffuse the situation with laughter, Wembanyama should have apologized to Spears for the actions of his security team.

Sure, he is just 19 years old, but it doesn’t take much to know about respecting a woman. Moreover, if it wasn’t for Britney Spears, the story may have never even become this big. At the end of the day, it’s an opportunity for Wembanyama to become a better person.

Britney Spears’ Statement About Getting Backhanded In The Face By Victor Wembanyama’s Security

Treating women with respect doesn’t take a lot. In a statement about the incident, Spears explained she was also swarmed by fans, but her security didn’t hit any of them.

Fans will hope that the two parties can resolve the issues as soon as possible. After all, no one would love to see a conflict between the two stars.

Let’s hope to see a meaningful apology from Wembanyama soon. Otherwise, he should expect to be showered with boos the next team he’s on the basketball court.
