The final play during regulation time in Game 5 was the biggest highlight of the matchup between the Miami Heat and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jimmy Butler sent the game to overtime after scoring a brilliant bucket from a lob pass with 2.1 seconds left on the clock. During the postgame interview, head coach Erik Spoelstra explained how it was Jimmy Butler’s idea to run the final play.
“I had a different variation of it, and he looked at me dead in the eye. We’ve practiced variations of that play with a bunch of different guys,” Spoelstra said. “I was going to do a different version of it. He just said, ‘No, let me be that guy.’ I just said, ‘OK, but what if we can’t get that pass.’ He said, ‘I’ll get it. Don’t worry about it.'”

While Spoelstra gave credit to Jimmy Butler for making the necessary changes to the play, it was initially his idea to trick Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer by benching Bam Adebayo.
In response to that, Budenholzer benched Brook Lopez, thinking no lob pass would be sent toward the rim. After all, it’s usually the center’s job to finish the play that Coach Spo drew.
Jimmy Butler’s Heartfelt Message After Making The Eastern Conference Semifinals
Considering the Miami Heat were the eighth seed in the East, no one expected them to overpower the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.
But thanks to some insane performances from Jimmy Butler, the Heat eliminated the Bucks from the playoffs in just five games. After clinching a spot in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Butler shared a heartfelt message.
“I’m going to play with my daughter… we’re going to get ice cream.”
Butler averaged a solid 37.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 4.8 APG in the opening-round series. Butler will get a few days of rest before gearing up to face off against the New York Knicks soon.
