The Memphis Grizzlies survived getting eliminated from the playoffs in the first round after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the series.
Following the 116-99 win, Grizzlies’ center Xavier Tillman promised the crowd to be back in Memphis for a Game 7 matchup at the FedEx Forum.
“Man, y’all are amazing, we’ll come back for Game 7 for sure.”
(Starts at 1:11)
Tillman finished the game with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists to his name. The entire Grizzlies team fed off the crowd and held the Lakers under 100 points for the second time in the series.
Coincidentally, the Grizzlies have won both games where the Lakers failed to cross the 100-point mark. As for Game 5, Ja Morant and Desmond Bane were the stars of the matchup.
Ja recorded 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, while Bane had 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists to his name. But the job is not over for the Grizzlies as they head to the Crypto.com Arena for the crucial Game 6 of the series.
LeBron James Took The Blame For Game 5 Loss
LeBron James was the star for the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4’s overtime victory. But the King couldn’t perform at the same level in Wednesday’s Game 5 matchup vs. the Grizzlies.
James recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss. He shot an underwhelming 5-17 from the field. In the postgame conference, LeBron didn’t run away from the media and admitted that he played like s**t in Game 5.
“Tonight, I was s**t. And I’ll be better in Game 6.”
The Lakers heavily depend on LeBron James to win games, and the organization will expect a better performance from their 38-year-old superstar in Game 6.
For the series, James is averaging 22.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists over five games. Will fans see a classic comeback from the King? They will have to wait and find out on Friday night.
