The Boston Celtics fell short of completing a historic 3-0 series comeback after getting blown out by the Miami Heat in Game 7 at the TD Garden.

This is yet another season for Boston without a title after over half a decade of being close but not close enough. Fans are openly wondering what is next for the Celtics after this brutal Game 7 loss.

Jaylen Brown looks to be the odd man out, with many fans clamoring for him to be traded.

Fans joked that the next stop for the Celtics is Cancun.

A fan decimated Brown’s play style before saying that he needs to be traded for Damian Lillard.

The hate for Brown was strong, given he has been openly linked with a supermax contract extension after making All-NBA this season.

Fans were also criticizing everyone that compared Jayson Tatum to Brown.

Fans were quick to remind everyone that the Celtics have been serial underachievers in the modern era, winning only the 2008 Championship in the last 37 years.

The future of supermax extensions for Tatum and Brown looms large over Boston.

These issues are just scratching the surface, as Boston also needs to figure out what they want to do with their coaching given Joe Mazzulla’s lack of experience hurting them in this series.

Ime Udoka outcoached Erik Spoelstra in a Game 7 last season where the Heat were at home and didn’t have multiple injuries ruining their rotational depth.

Major Changes On The Way?

The Celtics are one of the few teams in the NBA that need to be creative with their squad building given the years of continuity the core players have with each other. But the salary bill of the team is inflated and stands to get worse if Brown is extended to the dollar amount he wants. They are over the second luxury tax apron, which will restrict their ability to trade picks and sign players from the 2024 offseason onward.

Grant Williams may just end up being too expensive a piece for them to bring back, along with Jaylen Brown the way he just played. Brown could bring back some extremely valuable players for the Celtics, so everyone will be waiting to see what Brad Stevens does in the summer, including assessing the coaching situation the team has found itself in.
