The Miami Heat are going to the NBA Finals after pulling out a much-needed Game 7 win over the Boston Celtics, courtesy of Jimmy Butler and Caleb Martin.

Jimmy Butler was named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP for his performance over the series, but fans think Caleb Martin deserved it more than Butler for his clutch consistency throughout the seven games. Butler got five votes for the award while Martin got four.

Celtics fans were upset to see Butler be rewarded over Martin.

Jimmy Butler’s journey to making the Heat relevant after joining them in 2019 to this award is absolutely amazing and a far better run than most superstars that switched teams in 2019.

Fans joked about Caleb Martin being upset about Butler getting the trophy over him.

Neutral fans appreciated Butler but did agree that Martin should’ve at least been interviewed for coming up big throughout this series.

Skip Bayless chimed in by saying he picked Martin over Butler for MVP.

Tim MacMahon directly called out his podcast co-host Tim Bontemps for voting Butler over Martin in what proved to be a deciding vote.

Butler averaged 24.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in the series and dropped a 28-point performance in Game 7. Caleb Martin’s numbers were far less impressive with 19.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

Miami Heat Hoping To Continue Shocking The World

The Miami Heat have the lowest regular season win total of any Finals team in NBA history, an incredible achievement for the perennial underdogs. They will arguably have the worst odds they have had this playoff run heading into the Finals against the well-oiled machine that is the Denver Nuggets.

Either way, we’re going to see the season end with either Jimmy Butler leading his Heat to a title in the greatest underdog story in league history or we finally see Nikola Jokic cement his status as an all-time great by adding a championship to his already stacked individual resume. Neutral fans should be jumping for joy at such a fresh and engaging matchup.
