The offseason may be the friendliest time in the NBA, as on-court rivals often spend time with each other and work on their games together. It was less common in the ’90s and 2000s, but modern stars work in the summers together all the time.

Kevin Durant has been seen working out with a plethora of young stars in the NBA this summer. Jordan Poole, Jalen Green, and Paolo Banchero are among the players KD has worked out with, prompting fans to discuss his status as an elder statesman in the league.

Given the ages of the players involved, most of them likely admired Durant while they were kids and started playing the sport. It must be a thrill to work with KD. Everything he’s teaching them will be useful in the long run, but KD is also taking notes on how to stop these stars while he’s still actively playing.

Kevin Durant Hoping To Add A Third Ring

Durant isn’t settling into the role of a veteran for young players league-wide, like what Kobe Bryant became right at the end of his career. Kobe’s injuries meant there was a clear clock on his career as the Lakers dipped from competitive relevancy in the final years of his tenure with the team. Durant is a championship contender right now and is very motivated to add another ring to his name.

His partnership with Devin Booker seemed solid for the half-season we saw it, with Bradley Beal now joining the fray after a blockbuster offseason trade. The expectations are extremely high for a Suns team that has emptied its asset cabinet in the last few months.

KD averaged in the playoffs. He will hope to keep this form going next season while hopefully enjoying better on-court health.
