Ja Morant certainly won no fans after he wasted 19 seconds on the clock against the Charlotte Hornets despite the Memphis Grizzlies leading by 29 points.
The Grizzlies notched up a comfortable 131-107 win against the Hornets, and Morant, who has been in the MVP race due to his strong performances, had a good outing with 23 points, 1 rebound, and 8 assists. However, his third-quarter move saw some massive brickbats come his way.
Morant left one of the inbound passes untouched, waiting even as the Hornets players waited for him to get the game underway. Whether it was a move to further torch a humiliated side or just kill time was one of the debates that did the rounds on social media.

I get the Hornets should’ve pressured the ball, but why do this up 30? Disrespectful for no reason https://t.co/f35Y1Uq94c

The responses on social media were filled with fans suggesting that not only did Morant disrespect his opponents, but he also went against the spirit of the game.
Ja Morant And The Memphis Grizzlies Have Rubbed Teams The Wrong Way Before
This certainly isn’t the first time Morant and the Grizzlies have made enemies of some of the teams in the NBA. Take, for instance, the team’s beef with the Golden State Warriors. There’s history and a bad one at that.
There was enough drama last season between the two teams when Dillon Brook’s flagrant knocked former Warrior Gary Payton II out of the series. It didn’t end there, as he constantly pointed out Andre Iguodala for not suiting up for Memphis when the Warriors sent him off on a salary dump trade to the side in 2019.
If the rivalry, which has been denied by Morant earlier, wasn’t enough, he raised quite a few eyebrows when he spoke about not being too worried about how the Western Conference was shaping up. Speaking to Malika Andrews on ESPN, the guard said he was “fine in the West.” This had NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe slamming the player.
“The last time the Grizz made a Western Conference Finals, Ja Morant was 13. Did I miss something… Bruh, y’all not good. Y’all not like that. Y’all ain’t got Shaq, don’t got Kobe, you don’t got a Tim Duncan.”
While they continue to stir trouble for their on-floor antics, the Grizzles have also walked the talk, and their second place standing in the West with a 24-13 record serves as ample proof. That said, they could perhaps refrain from pulling some stunts that irk other teams and fans.
