Winning the NBA Championship is one of the best feelings for a player and an owner in the league. Every team wants to win the NBA title, but each season only one team can fulfill that dream. Although the NBA Finals take place each season, some of them mean more than others.

A perfect example of this was the Dallas Mavericks‘ 2011 NBA title. The Mavs, led by Dirk Nowitzki, won the 2011 NBA Championship against all odds. They defeated the Miami Heat Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Following the victory, team owner Mark Cuban and the rest of the team celebrated thoroughly.

Mark Cuban’s Card Declined During The Mavericks’ Party After Winning The NBA Championship

Mark Cuban is undoubtedly one of the most involved owners of an NBA team. Cuban takes a huge interest in his team, and when his organization won the NBA title in 2011, he certainly celebrated a lot with them.

But during their celebration in Miami, at one point, the billionaire was embarrassed after trying to purchase a $140,000 champagne bottle.

“The best part was $140,000. Yeah, so I’m like, ‘Dirk, do we wanna get this?’ He’s like, ‘F**k yeah, we wanna get this.’ I go to the waitress all right we’ll take one. 10 minutes, 15 minutes go by, Dirk’s like, ‘Where’s the champagne?’ All of a sudden the lady comes up, ‘Mr. Cuban, your card was declined.’ I’m like what the f**k? And I’m like let me call American Express and I’m drunk as s**t. Let me call American Express and they’re like, ‘How do we know this is Mark Cuban? How do we know this is real? I’m like, ‘Did you watch the game tonight? Let me just tell you just turn on the TV and see what’s going on because we’re in Miami right.’ And so finally they approved it, got my bottle and we were good.”

At the time, it must have been embarrassing for Cuban to get approval to purchase a champagne bottle during the celebration. But at the end of the day, his party wasn’t ruined because they still ended up getting the $140,000 champagne bottle, albeit with a slight delay.
