One of the biggest stories around the NBA in recent years involves Jimmy Butler and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Before he landed in Philadelphia, the swingman had a tumultuous tenure in Minnesota that didn’t have the best ending.

A lot has been said about this incident, with the most accepted version of it being that Butler beat the team’s starters with a bunch of third strings, wearing a Rolex, before yelling at everybody that they needed him to win. However, now Karl-Anthony Towns has provided a different version of that story.

“I do remember this. We had practice, we had that game, it was the four starters, it was Jimmy, it was his boy from Marquette and three other guys – I think one of whom ended up being a starter for us,” Towns said on Paul George’s podcast.

“He was passing, I was balling. He got one free throw. I remember we had a moment when we were arguing with each other. He said some sh*t, I said some sh*t back, I wasn’t going for that.

“They ended up winning the game. I think they got a last-second shot to go in. So it was like a quick little scrimmage and I remember the whole happening where he’s screaming at the people.

“We had practice again now, it was all five of us. There’s all the starters, you had me, Wigg, Jeff, Taj and Jimmy vs, I think it was the third unit. We lost to the third unit, by like 10 points.”

Towns was one of the reasons why Butler didn’t enjoy his time with the T-Wolves. The Miami Heat superstar was never convinced that the center was about winning, and even after he made it clear he wanted to win, Butler always thought bad things about him.

During one of their recent duels, Butler called KAT ‘soft as baby sh*t,’ which showed how intense their beef was. However, things appear to have changed in the last time.

Towns Admits He’s Not Beefing With Butler Anymore

KAT recently talked about his relationship with Butler, saying that he’s not somebody that holds grudges and he’s moved on from that beef with Jimmy Buckets. Before that, he had mentioned he appreciated his time playing with the controversial player

Now, they are living different realities, with Butler waiting for a rival in the Eastern Conference Finals while Towns is watching the playoffs at home. He’s ready to bounce back with the Minnesota Timberwolves next season after they mightily failed to meet KAT’s own expectations this campaign.
