LeBron James faced a whirlwind of criticism from the NBA world when he decided to join the Miami Heat in 2010.

One individual who didn’t have any issue at all with it, though, was Kobe Bryant, who was happy for his friend.

“I’m happy for him because he seems happy,” Bryant said. “I think that’s the most important thing. Him and his family were really caught up in the pressure and hoopla of it all. As a friend, I’m happy that he’s happy with his decision.”

LeBron certainly was happy with his decision and that was all that mattered to Kobe. It was time for James to move on, as it was clear he was never going to win a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers as they were constructed back then. This move also gave hope that perhaps we could finally see Kobe and LeBron face off in the Finals, but after winning back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010, Bryant would never again get to the big stage.

While moving to the Heat to form a Big 3 with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh was an unpopular decision in itself, LeBron really made matters worse with “The Decision.” Having a television special to announce the move left a really bad taste in the mouth of many, and even LeBron later regretted doing it.

LeBron James’ Incredible Tenure With The Heat

His first season in Miami ended in disastrous fashion with a stunning Finals loss to the Dallas Mavericks, and LeBron still calls it the toughest moment of his career. He bounced back in style though, winning win back-to-back titles and MVPs in 2012 and 2013 to firmly establish himself as the best player in the world.

LeBron probably should have won DPOY in 2013 as well, which should tell you just how dominant he was back then. He’d reach the NBA Finals in all four of his seasons with the Heat before making his return to Cleveland in 2014. Returning and then winning the title for the Cavaliers in 2016 meant everything was forgiven.
