Kyle Kuzma’s not one to stand around and watch when his teammates (present and former) are in the line of fire.
The former Los Angeles Laker was once again there for his old team, and in this particular case, Anthony Davis after the big man garnered flak for not celebrating LeBron James’ breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record.
Earlier, clips of Davis remaining seated while celebrations broke out after James’ achievement did the rounds on social media and had fans and pundits share their two cents on the matter. However, Kuzma wasn’t having any of it and took to Twitter to defend the center by taking a dig at the media.

Kyle Kuzma has been linked to the Lakers since his departure and was even touted as one of their trade targets prior to the deadline. However, the Wizards intended to keep their ‘Big 3’ intact and that meant he was staying put with Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis in Washington.
There have been conflicting reports of Kuzma leaving the Wizards in free agency, but GM Tommy Sheppard remained optimistic about him extending his tenure in Washington. Per The Washington Post:
“We try to be very informed before we do any decision … we’ve had similar circumstances with Bradley, except that was for three years that I heard how he was leaving. I believe heavily in relationships in this business, and having constant dialogue and feedback and involving Bradley, [Porzingis], Kyle. … Nothing’s ever 100 percent, [but] there’s not one single time that I said, hey, shoot, we better get rid of Kyle because he doesn’t want to be here or there’s no way we can keep him.”
The Wizards are 25-29 at the time of writing and are placed 11th in the East. Kuzma has been having a healthy run himself averaging a career-high 21.3 points and 7.6 rebounds this season.
He’s been on the radar of some of the playoff contenders and will surely see them make a beeline for him should he decide to become a free agent. If he does indeed return to LA, there’s no doubt that he will be welcomed with open arms.
