LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers are staring at the possibility of being swept in the Western Conference Finals after going down 3-0 against the Denver Nuggets. Each game is now a must-win for the Lakers if they want to come back and reach the NBA Finals. And LeBron James is thinking about doing just that.

During his post-game press conference, LeBron James was asked about whether the opportunity to come down from 3-0 down to win the Western Conference Finals is a thought that has crossed his mind. In scary fashion, LeBron responded “Of course. That’s the only mindset for me.”

LeBron James has shown in the past that he can come back from a big deficit. In 2016, LeBron James led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Championship after being down 3-1 against the Golden State Warriors. Being down 3-0 is arguably even more daunting, as the Lakers have to win every game going forward.

The King Could Make History

Over the course of this playoff run, LeBron James has been playing well, averaging 23.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. But it is clear that he is no longer the player he once was, as he has been deferring to Anthony Davis to lead the team on both ends of the court. LeBron is still fantastic, but he isn’t the two-way juggernaut that he used to be during the prime years of his legendary career.

LeBron James seemed optimistic during the post-game press conference about the Lakers’ chances, stating that they needed to win one game and take things one game at a time going forward. Winning this series after going down 3-0, while playing against a 2-time NBA MVP in Nikola Jokic would rank among some of the greatest accomplishments in the incredible career that LeBron James has built for himself.
