Michael Malone has proven his mettle as a coach this season. Under his stewardship, the Nuggets secured the best record in the Western Conference, and he is now one win away from taking the Nuggets to the NBA Finals for the first time in the history of their franchise. Malone is definitely proud of his team, and he even took a shot at Anthony Davis during the post-game press conference.

Speaking during the post-game press conference, Michael Malone took a slight dig at Anthony Davis while talking about the offensive tactics employed by the Nuggets. “I think Nikola and Jamal, those are primary ball handlers,” said Malone. “Those are the guys that we play through a ton. Especially what’s even more impressive about that… The amount of attention Nikola and Jamal get, those guys are being hounded everywhere.”

“Anthony Davis is just playing free safety, sitting in the paint for 8 seconds at a time and showing an extra crowd. To only have 6 turnovers for 8 points in a game of this magnitude… That was my fear going into this game. On the road, fuel their break, this place is going to get crazy… This could get out of control quickly. We never allowed that to happen off of our mistakes and that’s what you have to do”.

Malone was clearly suggesting that Anthony Davis should have been called for a defensive 3-second violation. Anthony Davis has been fantastic for the Lakers during these NBA Playoffs, but the biggest complaint against him is his game-to-game consistency.

Can Anthony Davis Bounce Back?

Anthony Davis has been averaging 22.7 points, 14.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game during this playoff run for the Lakers. With LeBron James now 38 years old, it is Anthony Davis’ responsibility to carry the Lakers as the primary option and the leader on both the offensive and defensive end of the court.

AD and the Lakers will look to bounce back in Game 4, which is now a must-win for LA if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive going forward.

NBA Fans don’t the Lakers have a chance of coming back from 3-0 down. Davis will be the player to watch going forward for Los Angeles, as their playoff hopes live and die through his efforts on the court.
