LeBron James’ journey in the NBA has been full of ups and downs. Of course, he is one of the greatest players to flaunt his talents in the league and is now generally considered to be a well-loved player among fans.
But that was definitely not the case when LeBron decided it was time to take his talents to South Beach. At the time, LeBron was already a two-time MVP but had failed to win an NBA Championship despite being in the league for seven years.
After years of frustrating trips to the playoffs, he finally decided it was time to begin the next chapter of his career. He did so by joining forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and joined the Miami Heat. Thus forming a superteam in the NBA.
LeBron received a lot of backlash from the fans for his decision and instantly became the most hated player in the league. Evidently, most were wishing for the Heat’s demise. Even more so when the Heat made it to the 2011 NBA Finals.
Unfortunately, LeBron had the worst NBA Finals of his career and blew a 2-1 in the series. It made many happy to see James’ downfall. Following the defeat, LeBron was asked if it bothered him that many people would love to see him fail. James gave an epic reply to the question.
“Absolutely not. At the end of the day, all the people that was rooting on me to fail, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that. They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself but the Miami Heat not accomplishing that goal. But you know they gotta get back to the real world at some point.”
After the abysmal 2011 NBA Finals, James made it his mission to win the first ring of his career.
He then went on to win back-to-back rings and was undoubtedly the best basketball player in the world.
