LeBron James was finally back for the Los Angeles Lakers after being kept out of action for 13 straight games due to a foot injury.
James returned to the team with eight games left in the season to help the Lakers’ final push for the playoffs. Following James’ return, the Lakers now have the sixth-best chance of winning the 2022-23 NBA title. Although the Purple and Gold lost against the Chicago Bulls, James believes the team has the potential to be a top-six seed in the Western Conference when it’s all said and done this season.
“We go 8-5, and now we’re sitting at a chance to be able to, ‘Hell with play-in, we actually can be a top-six seed,’ that definitely changed my mindset on me coming back and trying to be a part of this,” LeBron said. “I don’t wanna say changed my mindset, it just enhanced what I was trying to do as far as my workouts and treatment went.”

LeBron James is the leader of the Los Angeles Lakers. So while the Lakers have managed to maintain being in a play-in tournament spot without him, they certainly require James to be at his best to carry the team to the next level.
The Los Angeles Lakers Can Still Become A Top-Six Seed In The Western Conference
Following the defeat against the Chicago Bulls, the Los Angeles Lakers may have fallen to the ninth seed in the West. But that doesn’t mean the Lakers no longer have a shot at becoming a top-six seed in the conference.
They currently have a 37-38 record and are still just a game and a half behind the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors, who have a 39-37 record right now.
There are seven games left to be played in the season, and the Lakers can easily string together a winning streak to advance to the postseason. Even if they fail to do so, they can always try to win in the play-in tournament and then qualify for the playoffs.
