The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Chicago Bulls in an extremely crucial matchup in the 2022-23 NBA season.

LeBron James returned to the team after missing 13 straight games, and Lakers fans were pleased. However, LeBron and the Lakers fell short against the Chicago Bulls in this important game. In the postgame interview, Anthony Davis gave his thoughts on the Lakers finding their rhythm with James back on the team.

“He’s good enough, I think we’re good enough to kind of figure it out on the fly. I think we’ll be fine for sure,” Davis said. “We just gotta come out and continue to play on both ends of the floor, like we did the past couple of games, with whoever is in the lineup. Whether he’s starting, coming off the bench, not playing, whoever is playing. Continue to have that same energy after the urgency that coach preaches about, over the last seven games.”

In the heartbreaking defeat, LeBron came off the bench. It was only the second instance in his career when the King did not start a game.

LeBron recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists in the 108-118 loss to the Bulls. It may take the Lakers superstar some time before he gets back into rhythm. Davis showing complete trust in LeBron will undoubtedly help him in doing so.

The Lakers Have Fallen To The Ninth Seed In The Western Conference

Prior to losing against the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers were on a three-game winning streak and held the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

But the 10-point defeat against the Bulls made the Purple and Gold fall to the ninth seed in the conference. They now have a record of 37-38 and are once again below the .500 mark in the 2022-23 NBA season.

With just seven games left to be played this season, the Lakers’ hopes of clinching a permanent spot in the playoffs are hanging by a thin thread. Fans will hope for the franchise to at least qualify for the play-in tournament and have a shot at playing in the postseason.

Can LeBron James and Anthony Davis carry the Lakers to the playoffs? We will find out in the coming weeks.
