Lou Williams is one of the most iconic sixth men in NBA history, leaving a huge mark on the game with his performances off the bench, becoming a big figure on every team he played for during his 17-season career.
The guard has made the decision to hang the boots today and call it a career after spending the last 17 years in the association. Sharing a touching video on social media, Williams revealed the news, saying he had his last dance and now will focus on different teams.

Even though he never won an NBA championship, there’s no doubt that Williams is one of the most iconic players of this generation. His last experience in the league came with the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 6.3 points, 1.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 56 games in the 2021-22 season.
Now, it’s time for the three-time Sixth Man of the Year award winner to look for new challenges and enjoy life after giving everything to the game of basketball.
Lou Williams NBA Career
Besides the Hawks, Williams played for other five NBA franchises, namely the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers.
He played in 1,123 regular-season games during his career, averaging 13.9 points, 3.4 assists and 2.2 rebounds. His best season scoring-wise came in 2017-18 when he averaged 22.6 points per game for the Los Angeles Clippers. Of course, he won the 6MOTY award that year.
Williams also starred in controversial moments during his career. He once stopped a gunman from robbing him on Christmas. He was both criticized and praised for having two girlfriends, which always bothered him.
Williams also was involved in one of the most curious events in the 2020 NBA bubble, breaking the league’s rules when he went to a strip club, allegedly to pick up some wings.
As you can see, he had a very entertaining career and now that is over, we wish the best for Williams moving forward. Thank you for so many fun moments on the court and enjoy retirement!
