In a recent turn of events, Miles Bridges, the talented forward of the Charlotte Hornets, has decided to remain with the team despite numerous trade rumors circulating around him as he has a no-trade clause in his contract. The decision comes as a surprise to many, given Bridges’ expiring contract and the speculation surrounding his future with the Hornets.

Bridges, who joined the Hornets in 2018 after a trade from the Los Angeles Clippers, has been a key contributor to the team’s success over the years. Despite facing challenges such as a domestic violence incident that caused him to miss the entire 2022-23 season and a subsequent suspension at the beginning of the current season, Bridges has remained steadfast in his commitment to the Hornets.

The decision to stay with the Hornets was confirmed by Bridges’ agent, Rich Paul, who stated that Bridges would not approve any trades and would remain with the team for the rest of the season. This news comes as a relief to Hornets fans who were concerned about the possibility of losing Bridges, especially given his recent stellar performances on the court.

This season, Bridges has been averaging a career-high 21.9 points per game, along with 7.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists. His impressive stats reflect his value as a dynamic offensive player who can also contribute on the defensive end of the court.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Bridges’ future with the Hornets, he has publicly expressed his desire to stay with the team. In a recent interview, Bridges reiterated his commitment to the Hornets, stating that he wants to remain with the organization for the long term.

While there were expectations that Bridges might not stick around beyond this season, his decision to stay with the Hornets has come as a pleasant surprise to many. With Bridges’ Bird Rights retained by the Hornets, the team will have the opportunity to re-sign him in the offseason and potentially build around him for the future.

Overall, Bridges’ decision to remain with the Hornets is a testament to his loyalty to the team and his desire to continue contributing to its success. As the Hornets look to make a push for the playoffs, Bridges’ presence on the roster will undoubtedly be a significant factor in their pursuit of success on the court.

Miles Bridges Holding Out For A Bigger Contract

Miles Bridges’ decision to hold out for a bigger contract is a significant factor in his choice to remain with the Charlotte Hornets despite trade rumors swirling around him. The forward’s current contract, valued at $7.9 million, is set to expire in the offseason, opening up opportunities for Bridges to negotiate a new deal.

While trade talks have included potential destinations like the Phoenix Suns, Bridges has shown reluctance due to salary constraints. If traded to the Suns, Bridges would have been limited to a maximum contract offer of 4 years and $41 million, which falls short of his desired compensation. This financial limitation posed by the Suns’ salary cap is not in line with Bridges’ expectations for his next contract.

Furthermore, Bridges has already turned down a lucrative offer from the Hornets, declining a 4-year, $60 million deal. It’s evident that Bridges is aiming for a more substantial contract in the range of $80-100 million, reflecting his value as a key player in the league.

However, Bridges’ pursuit of a bigger contract may face challenges due to potential public relations issues stemming from his past. His involvement in a domestic violence incident and subsequent legal troubles could hinder teams, including the Hornets, from offering him a massive contract. Despite his on-court talent and contributions, Bridges’ off-court history may create hesitancy among teams and fans alike.

As Bridges navigates negotiations for his next contract, he must consider both his financial aspirations and the potential implications of his past actions on his future in the league. Balancing financial goals with public perception will be crucial for Bridges as he seeks to secure a contract that reflects his value while addressing concerns surrounding his off-court conduct.
