Over the last few months, Memphis Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks has become the villain of the NBA. Brooks has gotten into altercations with several big-name superstars.

Brooks lived up to that reputation in Game 2 vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. He trash-talked to LeBron James for the majority of the game. But he crossed the line in the postgame conference by insulting the King.

“I don’t care, he’s old. I was waiting for that, I was expecting him to do that Game 4 or Game 5. He wanted to say something when I got my 4th foul, he didn’t say nothing early on. But you know, I poke bears. I don’t respect no one until they come in and give me 40. So, I pride myself on defense and taking on any challenge.”

Classic Dillon Brooks on his confrontation with LeBron James: “I don’t care. He’s old. … I poke bears. I don’t respect someone until he gives me 40.”

And Brooks had plenty more to say. pic.twitter.com/uWLONrubPZ

NBA fans have tolerated Brooks’ erratic behavior for several months now. But it seems like disrespecting unarguably the greatest player of this generation was the final straw for most fans.

A fan called Brooks the ‘dumbest clown show’ in all of the sports as of now.

Dumbest clown show in sports right here.

Some fans believe LeBron James will now have a great scoring performance in Game 3 of the series on Saturday night.

LBJ scoring 40 Saturday. Book it.

Umm this doesn’t usually end well 😂😂

A fan simply pointed out the fact that James dropped 28 points on Brooks in Game 2.

Does Dillon Brookes know how goofy he sounds when he calls LeBron "old" RIGHT AFTER the game where LeBron scored 28 on him while 'young' Dillon scored 12? Haha what?

Another fan made a prediction about the results of the series after Brooks’ comments.

Lakers in 7 lol….Brooks shouldn’t have called him old lmao

— kap (@hopefulmetsfan) April 20, 2023

Someone pointed out that Brooks himself has zero 40 points games in his career so far.

Talking trash to opponents is a part of the game, but there are some lines that should never be crossed. But Brooks has done that and it could very well lead to LeBron James dropping 50 points on him in the next game.

So far in the first round, LeBron James played 12:51 minutes against Brooks and has dominated the Grizzlies’ forward. In those minutes, LeBron James already recorded 28 points on 12-19 shooting from the field. The King has also dished out 4 assists while not turning the ball over even once.

Considering these stats, it’s certainly astonishing to see Brooks talk so much nuisance about James.

Dillon Brooks Says It’s Easier To Guard Lakers LeBron James Than The Cavaliers And Heat Versions Of The King

LeBron James is currently 38 years old and he is still one of the best players in the league. James has already won an NBA Championship with the Lakers, but he is no longer the player he once was.

Despite that, handling the likes of Dillon Brooks is not a tough task for James. Regardless, Brooks believes that it’s much easier to guard James right now than when he used to play for the Cavaliers and the Heat.

Brooks is seemingly intentionally poking the bear during the first-round series between the Lakers and the Grizzlies. To be honest, It is a very risky strategy, as LeBron still has the ability to take over games when he wants to.

It will be interesting to see how motivated and understandably furious James would be during Game 3 of the series.
