The New York Knicks have spent a decade as one of the laughing stock franchises of the NBA. That era is finally over with the Knicks advancing to the second round of the playoffs with a 106-95 Game 5 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This is the first second-round appearance for New York since 2013, and fans are understandably excited.

The fans are already going crazy on social media and even on the streets of New York, as Game 5 took place in Cleveland.

The hustle Knicks’ players Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson showed ultimately was the difference-maker.

Knicks fans were happy to get this win after a lot of back-and-forth with Cavs fans heading into the series.

Knicks fans absolutely love their team and the effort they’ve been playing with.

Jalen Brunson’s emergence as a star point guard continued and fans took note of his budding playoff resume after his success with Dallas last year.

Donovan Mitchell has to be upset, getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Jalen Brunson once again.

The Knicks lost Julius Randle to injury mid-game, but a team-oriented performance saw Jalen Brunson (23 points), R.J. Barrett (21 points), and Immanuel Quickley (19 points) all had big contributions in the win.

Donovan Mitchell dropped 28 points to try and take the Cavs over the top but it wasn’t enough. Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley combined for just 10 points as the starting frontcourt, which sunk the Cavs in this low-scoring affair.

Can The Knicks Make A Deep Playoff Run?

With the uncertainty in the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat series, the Knicks have a window to push deep. The Bucks could be eliminated tonight as they’re down 3-1 to the 8th-seed Miami Heat. They match up well with those teams, given how the Heat don’t have the depth necessary for a deep run and the Bucks have already shown their weaknesses by falling to a 3-1 deficit.

Julius Randle will need some time to recover from his injury, but he prides himself on staying available for the Knicks. If he can play, you can bet he will be on the court when Game 1 of the second round will begin.

In the meantime, Jalen Brunson will continue leading the Knicks. His signing with the team in the summer changed the course of the franchise and now they have proven to the world that they have been legitimate threats since the day Brunson signed the dotted line to be a Knick.
