Allen Iverson On The Iconic Step Over Against Tyronn Lue: “It was Just The Moment, I Was Into The Game And It Just Happened, It Was God”

The impact that Allen Iverson had on the NBA was truly amazing. He inspired not only the fans but the players as well. Evidently, Iverson had many iconic moments on the court as well.

We all remember the amazing crossover that startled even the great Michael Jordan. By the way, MJ is yet to forgive AI for that move. But today, we are not talking about it.

We are instead shifting our focus to another iconic moment by AI. Remember the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers, where he embarrassed Tyronn Lue? Yes, when he drained a jumper over Lue and then stepped over him.

Well, most NBA fans are aware of the moment, but not many know what actually happened at the moment. Did AI do it purposely? Or was it just a spur-of-the-moment decision? The NBA Hall of Famer spoke about it in a recent interview with B/R Kicks.

"I was just playing man. I don't know how it happened it was a reaction. Me and him had been going through it in the series and especially that game. He was doing a lot of holding and it was frustrating me. So we were drawing back and forth with each other and then when the moment presented itself, when I came down from shooting a jumper he had fell and it just happened. People tried to get me to emulate it over these many years later and I cannot do it. To save my life, I cannot do it. I cannot do it the same way. So, it was just the moment, I was into the game and it just happened, it was god."

As it turns out, Iverson had no plans to do that. It was a split-second decision made by the 76ers legend.

Whatever be the reasoning behind it, there is no denying that it is one of the most iconic moments of his career. Not for Lue though, it instantly turned him into a laughing stock on the internet.

To this date, many remember him as the guy that AI stepped over other than his accomplishments in the league.
