There are a lot of NBA players who like watching other sports or have played other sports in their youth. It makes sense that someone being a well-rounded athlete is generally good and that working on other sports can sometimes help with one’s main sport.

On the professional level, people pick one sport to play. That is obviously different than being a multi-sport athlete in high school. However, it seems as though Anthony Edwards is confident in his athletic abilities.

In a recent Timberwolves post-game, Karl-Anthony Townsjoked that Anthony Edwards thinks that he is the best player in a lot of different sports. Anthony Edwards chimed in and claimed that he’s the “best in the world” at any sport “with a player behind it”. Anthony Edwards has commented on being a multi-sport athlete before, claiming that he’d do whatever needed “as long as there’s money on the line”.

KAT: “Ant thinks he’s the best baseball player, football player, skier, curler, walker, runner.”

Ant: “Anything with a player behind it, I’m the best in the world.”

There is no doubt that having confidence generally has a good effect on one’s play, and it’s clear that Anthony Edwards has been having a spectacular year. He is currently averaging 22.1 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 3.6 APG this season, and Edwards definitely looks like a superstar in the making. While he likely isn’t going to transition to those other sports listed by Towns, he is a very good basketball player with a lot of room to improve.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently 9th in the Western Conference with a 13-15 record. Things haven’t been easy for them in the last few years, with their last time in the playoffs being the 2017-18 season. They are close to that .500 mark, and perhaps they could end up climbing to a positive record and potentially making the playoffs. Anthony Edwards will be key to them being able to do so, and with his insane confidence, he might just be able to lead the Timberwolves to the playoffs.
