Carmelo Anthony On Playing With LeBron, CP3 And Wade: ‘Our Dream Was All Of Us To Play Together’

2 Min Read

A lot has been said about the ‘banana boat crew’ composed by LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul and how they planned to team up in one team. That was a hard job to carry out, but it looks like every player listed off had all the intention to join forces in an NBA team.

Carmelo has talked about it recently, claiming it was a ‘dream’ for all of them to play together at some point in their careers. Anthony said that the other three stars had the same dream of playing together, but now that looks very unlikely to happen, especially after Wade called it a career at the end of the 2018/19 NBA season.

Talking with rapper and actor Ludacris, Melo told the story of how bad he wanted to play with his friends, the desire they shared for that to happen but now that is not possible.

Melo was thought to be the third part of the Miami Heat Big 3 at the beginning of the last decade, but the contract he signed with the Denver Nuggets at the time didn’t help him join forces with LeBron and Wade in 2010. In the end, Chris Bosh went to South Beach to win two championships.

Anthony is still looking for that ring and he’s currently part of the Portland Trail Blazers, trying to get that team in the playoffs and make things hard for the top contenders in the West. Before the NBA season was suspended, Portland ranked 9th in the Western Conference, hunting the Memphis Grizzlies and that 8th spot.
