Former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins has been known to have a short temper. This aspect of the big man’s personality revealed itself recently during a professional game in Puerto Rico when Cousins was seen making obscene gestures at a fan, triggering a heated fight between the two.

Cousins pulled away from the game in the middle of a possession to engage with a fan sitting courtside. While the back-and-forth ensued, the big man seemed to approach the fan, who appeared to be making the crying gesture at him.
The incident reached a boiling point after Cousins’ gesturing, as the big man also put his hands on the fan, leading to some shoving and yelling, with other fans also getting involved.
Cousins could be seen winding up to throw a punch on several instances, however, his teammates held him back and kept him away from the hostile crowd.
This would have marked the end of the situation. But, after being ejected from the game, the big man got into another scuffle in the tunnel while being escorted by the police.
Another angle of the incident — Cousins was not messing around.

While heading down the tunnel, a fan threw their drink at Cousins, inciting an immediate and aggressive response from the center. While attempting to charge at the fan, he was held back by the police as well as team staff. Visibly heated, Cousins tried to push away the people restraining him to get to the fan.
While others continued to insult and yell at the center, more drinks were thrown at him, before being forcibly taken to the locker room. Here is another angle of the incident.

Cousins currently plays for the Mets de Guaynabo in the Puerto Rico BSN. Considering that this was an away game, the home crowd certainly showed their hostility towards the former NBA player as their team, Vasqueros de Bayamon, walked away with a 101-91 win.
During his prime, he was considered one of the best big men in the NBA. Even named to two All-NBA teams over a 12-year career. However, with injuries taking hold and inconsistent form, Cousins gradually fell out of favor with the league.
After his last stint in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets during the 2021-22 season, Cousins went on to play for Mets de Guaynabo in 2023. This was followed by a stint in the T1 League in Taiwan, along with a 3×3 basketball run in China. He also signed for Mongolian team Selenge Bodons in the 2024-25 season before eventually returning to Puerto Rico this season.
In 10 games played for the team this season, Cousins has put up an average of 18.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 60.3% from the field. These are very impressive numbers considering the 34-year-old left the NBA almost three years ago.
